Kazuko Hohki presents

My Husband Is a Spaceman

Contemporary story telling with a captivating fusion of high and low tech.

Keiko, a Japanese office girl, has almost abandoned any expectation of meeting 'Mr. Right'. Then she encounters Robin, an English University research fellow, in Tokyo. They fall in love and get married. But married life is not what she expects. Every night he locks himself up in one room.

Inspired by a Japanese folk tale of love between a woman and a crane and using songs, digital animations, puppets and the tradition of 'Kamishibai' (paper theatre), Kazuko explores cross cultural relationships, loneliness and how to survive it, barren understanding and fruitful misunderstanding.

Kazuko Hohki, founder of Frank Chickens, was TIME OUT Critic's Choice in Oct '99 and June '00 for TOOTHLESS.

THE TIMES: "Delightfully forthright. A complex and fascinating exercise in modern tragi-comedy."

THE INDEPENDENT ON SUNDAY: "A surreal and lyrical requiem. The searing details are tempered by anarrative which is gentle, affectionate and humorous."
